MSF is a non-governmental humanitarian organization, founded in France in 1971 as a non-profit association. The
Swiss section was established in 1981. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999, MSF’s mission is to provide humanitarian medical assistance to all
affected populations without distinction of ethnicity, gender, religion, philosophy, or political opinion.


For its activities in Yaoundé, Doctors Without Borders Switzerland is seeking four (4) radio operators.
Work location: Yaoundé with the possibility of travel to projects.
Contract type: Fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal.
Start date: As soon as possible.
Direct supervisor: Logistics Manager/Head of Radio Operators.

RESPONSIBILITIES: – Use HF and VHF radios, avoid using sensitive or security-related information , and follow MSF security rules. Ensure the quality and transmission capacity of radio frequencies (HF and VHF). Install and program frequencies on various types of radios as needed. Ensure messages are correctly copied and transmitted to the appropriate individuals. Record messages in the radio logbook. Respond to radio messages from other authorized organizations and forward information via this channel. Establish radio contact with bases (capital or field) according to communication rules and schedules . Forward all information concerning team safety to the project coordinator in the capital. Track and record the movements of people, vehicles, helicopters, aircraft, and cargo (arrival, departure, number of passengers, route taken, planned contact points) and inform the supervisor of any delays. Record the loan of handsets to each staff member and monitor this regularly . Verify the proper functioning of all equipment and report any damage, loss, or theft to the supervisor. Maintain clean and well-maintained equipment, radio rooms, and facilities. – Provide basic radio training to MSF staff as needed. – Review all relevant information at the time of handover.

– Ensure the allocation or distribution of vehicles by driver day/evening/night
– Closely monitor all movements in the capital and outside Yaoundé


– Share information as quickly as possible with management for any incident or other work-related matter
Selection Criteria
Education High school diploma required
Training or diploma in the use of HF and VHF radios
Experience Proven work experience as a radio operator in similar positions
Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries
is an asset
Languages Working language of the mission required
Knowledge Essential: basic knowledge of mathematics, electronics and mechanics
