CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION:
The NGO For Impacts in Social Health (FIS Cameroon) is a Cameroonian health promotion NGO with 26 years of legal existence (www.fiscameroun.org). Its mission is to implement innovative approaches to strengthen public health policies and programs, collaborating effectively with health authorities and institutions and addressing the essential needs of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and adolescents.
As part of the implementation of its new 2024-2030 strategic plan, focused on five priority areas of intervention: (i) Provision of community health services; (ii) Advocacy; (iii) Strengthening the health system; (iv) Human rights and gender; (v) Pandemic preparedness and response, FIS is seeking to strengthen its technical team. It is in this context that FIS Cameroon is launching a call for applications for the recruitment of an Accountant.
MISSION: Under the responsibility of the Administrative and Financial Manager and the direct supervision of the Chief Accountant, the incumbent is responsible for the accounting of the NGO FIS Cameroon, including its affiliated organizations (DRAF TB, TBpeople, GCTA Youth, Stop TB Cameroon), and ensures the proper maintenance of the organization’s accounting records.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Chief Accountant, the Accountant’s mission is to:
1. Ensure the alignment of the NGO’s accounting with the accounting system for non-profit entities, abbreviated SYCEBNL.
2. Supervise the conformity of supporting documents according to the organization’s procedures.
3. Monitor the accounting entries made by the accounting assistant in the organization’s accounting and financial management system on a daily basis.
4. Make timely payments to third parties (suppliers, service providers, employees, tax and social security authorities, partners).
5. Manage the organization’s cash accounts (bank and e-money) monthly, including supporting documentation.
6. Prepare monthly account statements and annual/end-of-project accounting closes (bank reconciliations, e-money reconciliations, petty cash reconciliations).
7. Prepare financial reports for the association’s projects and development projects.
8. Make monthly salary payments and file tax and social security declarations. KEY SKILLS: Expertise:
Knowledge of accounting management for NGOs and development projects in particular;
knowledge of accounting standards and principles, as well as the provisions of SYCEBNL (Accounting System for Non-Profit Entities).
Proficiency in using accounting software (QuickBook, Tom2Pro, SAGA, SAARI).
Strong knowledge of complex Excel formulas and ability to create dashboards.
Essential qualities:
Rigorous, discreet, ethical, and honest.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a two-year post-secondary
degree (Bac+2) in accounting, financial management, auditing/management control, or equivalent. Three years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, and auditing, or a similar position.
