    The US Mission in Cameroon is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Information Technology (IT) Administrator position in the Diplomatic Technology Office (DTO).

Duties

The Information Technology (IT) Administrator is a member of the Diplomatic Technology (DT) Customer Engagement team. Administer IT systems ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This involves providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to customers through multiple channels, conducting system analysis and configuration management, and operating systems with a post-wide impact level. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex
technical issues. Assist in network security measures, conduct system audits for compliance, and educate users
on information security best practices. Participation in DT initiatives and fulfillment of other assigned duties round out the role, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to IT administration and support.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

    All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a:


        security certificate; or

        Public Trust – background investigation Security Clearance.


    All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
    Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Education Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Audio/Visual
    Communications and Technology is required.

Qualifications:

    Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in computer networking operations, network management or utilization of computer systems is required.

    Language: Fluency (Reading/Writing/Speaking) in English is required and Good working knowledge (Reading/Writing/Speaking) in French is required. This may be tested.

    Job Knowledge: Knowledge is required in the following portfolios: systems analysis and design techniques; computer equipment operations management; hardware, software, and cloud-based technologies; computer networking; technical aspects of analysis, computer application software development concepts, and management advisory services.

    Skills And Abilities: Proficiency in office productivity suites such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and OpenOffice. Possesses strong problem-solving and communication skills that facilitate working with people of different cultural
    background, language, technical knowledge, and seniority. Possesses strong communication and presentation skills and understands how to tailor information to the audience.

    Benefits Summary – US Mission Cameroon

    SALARY & COMPENSATION: The annual gross salary includes: the Basic Rate, the Miscellaneous Benefits Allowance, and the End-of-the-Year Bonus (equal to 1/12 of annual basic salary, paid in December). Seniority Allowance is paid in accordance with local labor law. Merit-based compensation rewards are available for high performers. A Cashier allowance is paid for eligible positions.

    LEAVE BENEFITS: Subject to the stated limits and rules of the Local Compensation Plan, employees are entitled to: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Maternity Leave, Special Leave, and Family Leave.

    MEDICAL BENEFITS: The US Mission in Cameroon directly reimburses eligible employees for covered medical expenses incurred for them and/or eligible dependents, subject to the stated limits of the Local Compensation Plan.

    HOLIDAYS BENEFITS: The US Mission in Cameroon observes American and Cameroonian public holidays, about 19 holidays per year.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant.     ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS

    The following apply to EFMs, USEFMs, and AEFMs only:   


        Current employees who used a hiring preference to gain employment who are within their first 90 calendar days of employment are not eligible. This does not apply when the hiring mechanism is TEMP or the work schedule is intermittent or irregular.   

        Candidates with a hiring preference who have already accepted a conditional offer of employment may NOT be extended a second conditional offer of employment unless and until they withdraw their candidacy for the first position in writing.


    The following apply to Locally Employed (LE) staff only:  


        Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible.

        Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement, Unsatisfactory, or an MBC score of less than 100 points on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible.
