Concerning
opening of the entrance competition for the first year of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of the University of Buea, and setting the number of places offered, for the academic year 2026/2027.
THE MINISTER OF STATE, MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION,
having regard to the Constitution;
having regard to Law No. 2023/007 of July 25, 2023 on the orientation of Higher Education in Cameroon;
Decree No. 2018/190 of March 2, 2018 amending and supplementing Decree No. 2011/408 of December 9, 2011, concerning the Government; Decree No. 2011/410 of December 9, 2011, concerning the organization of the Government; Decree No. 2019/002 of January 4, 2019, concerning the reorganization of the Government; Decree No. 2012/433 of October 1, 2012 concerning the organization of the Ministry of Higher Education; Decree No. 2005/342 of 10 September 2005 amending and supplementing certain provisions of Decree No. 93/027 of 19 January 1993 laying down common provisions for Universities; Decree No. 93/034 of 19 January 1993, on the administrative organization of the University of Buea; Decree No. NQ005/383 of 17 October 2005, establishing the financial rules applicable to Universities; Decree No. 2017/318 of 27 June 2017 appointing the Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea; Decree No. 2023/040 of 24 January 2023 appointing the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University of Buea; Decision no. of February 7, 2026, establishing the schedule for entrance examinations to the institutions of the State Universities of Cameroon and schools under the academic supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education for the 2026-2027 academic year. Article 1: A competition for the recruitment of six hundred and fifteen (615) students in the first year of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of the University of Buea will take place on September 23, 2026, for the academic year 2026/2027, for the award of the Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) (i.e. BAC+4) and Master of Engineering (MEng) (i.e. BAC+5) diplomas.
Article 2: The competition referred to in Article 1 above for first-year candidates is open to Cameroonians of both sexes and to foreign candidates holding one of the following diplomas:
1. The “General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level” obtained in at least five subjects including Mathematics and Physics; and the “General Certificate of Education Advanced Level” obtained in at least two subjects including Mathematics.

2. The “General Certificate of Education Technical Ordinary and Advanced Levels” obtained in related subjects; or
3. The Baccalaureate of Secondary Education in one of the following series: C, D, F2; F3 and F4; or 4. The “Technical and Vocational Education Examination (TVE)” (Advanced level); or 5. Any other diploma or qualification recognized as equivalent by the Ministry of Higher Education; Article 3: The competitive examination referred to in Article 1 above for 4th-year candidates will be based on a review of applications and is open to Cameroonians of both sexes, as well as to foreign candidates holding one of the following diplomas: a) Bachelor of Technology in the corresponding disciplines; or b) Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in the corresponding disciplines; or c) Any other diploma or qualification recognized as equivalent by the Ministry of Higher Education; Article 4: The competitive examination referred to in Article 1 above for 5th-year candidates will be based on a review of applications and is open to Cameroonians of both sexes, as well as to foreign candidates holding one of the following diplomas: Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in the corresponding disciplines; or a) Any other diploma or qualification recognized as equivalent by the Ministry of Higher Education; Article 5: Candidates seeking to obtain the results of one of the diplomas indicated above (Article 2) may register for the entrance examination. However, if they pass the entrance examination, these candidates must submit their results to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology before being admitted to the Faculty. Article 7: Registration Procedure: Registration for the Competition is done online on the University of Buea website at www.ubuca.cm. The online application will be completed after online payment of 20,000 FCFA (twenty thousand francs) as the competition registration fee.
Article 8: The competition is open in the following four centers: Buea, Bamenda, Bafoussam, Douala, and Yaoundé.
Article 9: Online registration is open until Sunday, September 20, 2026, at midnight.
Article 10: The competition consists solely of written examinations covering the following subjects:
Subjects, Weighting, Duration:
Mathematics 3, 3 hours;
Physics 3, 3 hours.
Article 11: The location and schedule for the examinations at each center will be specified later in a press release from the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea.

Article 13: The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buea, the Director of University Accreditations and Quality, and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University of Buea are each responsible, within their respective areas of competence, for the implementation of this decision, which will be recorded and communicated wherever necessary
