ABOUT THE POSITION

Are you ready to contribute to a new era of African football?

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is recruiting a highly experienced and discreet Executive Assistant to the Office of the President to provide high-level administrative, strategic, and operational support.

The successful candidate will coordinate the President’s priorities, appointments, communications, international engagements, and institutional relations while ensuring effective collaboration between the President’s Office, CAF management, the General Secretariat, member associations, and other key stakeholders.

This position requires exceptional organisational skills, diplomacy, confidentiality, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex international environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Administrative and Strategic Support

  • Manage the President’s calendar, meetings, appointments, travel, and official engagements.
  • Prepare agendas, briefing notes, correspondence, speeches, and meeting materials.
  • Monitor decisions, commitments, and action points, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Prioritise incoming requests and manage competing demands.
  • Support strategic initiatives, high-level negotiations, official visits, and international appointments.

2. Institutional Relations and Governance

  • Maintain confidential working relationships with CAF’s Secretary General, Vice-Presidents, Executive Committee members, member association presidents, and senior football officials.
  • Coordinate communication and workflows between the President’s Office, the General Secretariat, and other departments.
  • Organise and support Executive Committee meetings, General Assemblies, Standing Committee meetings, and other governance activities.
  • Attend high-level meetings when required, document key decisions, and monitor follow-up actions.
  • Manage official communications with senior stakeholders regarding meetings, events, and appointments.

3. Communications, Protocol, and Confidentiality

  • Draft and review confidential correspondence, speeches, briefing notes, and talking points.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Department on public statements, media matters, and official appearances.
  • Handle sensitive political, institutional, commercial, and personal information with absolute discretion.
  • Represent the President’s Office professionally and diplomatically.

4. International Travel and Events

  • Coordinate complex international travel, including multi-country itineraries, meetings, and protocol arrangements.
  • Prepare travel briefing packages containing schedules, contact details, background information, and relevant documents.
  • Coordinate post-travel expense reports.
  • Support major CAF, FIFA, and international football events and tournaments before, during, and after their execution.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Management, Communication, International Relations, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is highly recommended.
  • Additional training in football administration or sports management, such as the FIFA Master’s, is an advantage.
  • At least seven (7) years of relevant professional experience supporting a president, CEO, senior executive, vice-president, senior official, or equivalent manager in a complex international, diplomatic, or similarly demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with discretion, autonomy, and accountability.
  • Experience in international sports organisations, football governance, diplomatic institutions, government, or other politically sensitive environments is a significant advantage.
  • Proven experience in diplomatic or institutional protocol and the coordination of high-level guests and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
