Context
Within the framework of the 2026 Annual Work Plan (AWP) of the FEDEC–WCS–MINFOF project, the PAAPNMD has committed to strengthening knowledge on natural resources and on the levels of pressures and threats exerted on the Mbam and Djerem National Park (PNMD), in accordance with Action 2.2: “Improve knowledge on resources and on the level of pressures and threats exerted on the PNMD”.
To implement this initiative, two (2) students will be recruited for a three-month period each, offering them the opportunity to conduct research related to the project’s objectives. The first student will work specifically on the topic: ” Inventory and characterization of sacred sites of communities located within the PNMD (National Park of the Meuse-Daoulas ).” The second student will be offered an open topic, but it must fall within the fields of biodiversity, community conservation, or any relevant issue contributing to improved knowledge and the sustainable management of the PNMD.
2. Internship Objective
The overall objective of the internship is to conduct two studies on themes identified in the 2026 PTA of the WCS–FEDEC–MINFOF project, directly related to biodiversity, cultural values, community conservation, and the sustainable management of the PNMD
3. Learning areas for trainees
During the internship, the proposed topics will allow interested students to participate in concrete projects contributing to the preservation of biodiversity and a better understanding of the cultural and traditional dimensions linked to the sacred sites of the park .
4. Expected results at the end of the internship
At the end of the internship, the expected outcomes for the interns are:
– Two (02) research protocols are developed;
– Field data is collected, encoded and analyzed;
– Six (06) monthly reports are produced;
– Two (02) end-of-internship reports are produced;
– Two (02) research papers validated by an academic jury are shared with the PAAPNMD .
5. Mentoring and supervision
The interns will be placed under the supervision of the WCS/PNMD Director and under the guidance of the WCS/PNMD REDD+ Assistant
6. Trainee Profile
– Be enrolled in a national or international university;
– Ability to be discreet and respect for WCS’s code of ethics;

– Dynamism, curiosity and enthusiasm;
– Excellent command of French, particularly in terms of writing skills; proficiency in English is a plus;
– Interpersonal skills with a variety of interlocutors, including in a multicultural context;
– Excellent command of office software (Word, Excel);
– Good command of tools such as: ArcGis, SMART, Distance sampling (for the intern working on the theme of biodiversity); CLIP; Focus-group; Semi-structured interview (for the intern working on the theme of community conservation).
7. Internship Conditions
- The internship will be based in Mbakaou
The duration of the academic internship is 3 months .
· Trainees must comply with the WCS Cameroon code of conduct and internal regulations, and with any specific instructions and orders given to them in the context of the traineeship.
- Trainees must behave in good faith at all times and in a manner that positively reflects the image of WCS Cameroon.
- Trainees must not misuse the WCS name in any way during the course or outside of the internship program.
- All data collected during the internship will remain the property of WCS.
- WCS Cameroon will provide the intern with an internship allowance.
