Under the control of the District Nutrition supervisor, the Nutrition assistant will be responsible for
• Strengthening the capacities of community relays and ensuring that community facilitators have a good command of anthropometric measurements and are equipped to screen for malnutrition, e Supervise loading supplies and unloading of nutritional inputs in main and secondary sites in collaboration with area and district managers,
• Establish and submit monthly food distribution plans.
• Organize in collaboration with the Supervisor the pre- and post-distribution process Collect and consolidate reports for the main relays
• Enforce the eligibility criteria of beneficiaries during registration and distributions •
• Ensure that all tools ( registers and ration cards of beneficiaries) are available on the sites before each distribution
• Support community relays in community mobilization, awareness raising, monitoring of continuous screening, referral of SAM and MAM cases to health structures supported (CNAS and distribution site)
Lead the distribution teams under his responsibility and Participate in their supervision of community relays during distributions;
• Monitoring of awareness-raising and culinary demonstrations on distribution sites and in the community (learning focus on good nutritional practices)
• Ensure monitoring of adequate and effective distribution of CSB++ to the project target At the level of centers of positive deviance, ensure implementation (implementation, monitoring, evaluation) with the support of Papa and Maman Lumière,
• Establishment and support for the action group, Papa and Mamans Lumière, group of Fathers to Fathers,
• Organize in collaboration with the community relay discussions with communities to inquire about beneficiaries’ perceptions of the assistance received;
• Plan and participate in investigations with the teams (supervisor and M&E);
• Write daily, weekly, monthly distribution reports and transmit to supervisors for analysis and compile and participate in the development of final distribution reports
• Perform any other tasks, related to distributions, requested by the Supervisor.
PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION
Working in 54 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas, Plan aims to reach as many children as possible, especially those who are excluded or marginalized, with high-quality programs which bring lasting benefits by increasing its income, by working in partnership with other government structures therefore in its country strategy, Plan is committed to meeting the needs of vulnerable children affected by crises.
As part of the project entitled “Support Project for the Prevention and Treatment of Malnutrition for the benefit of girls and boys aged 6 to 59 months in the Mayo-Sava Department, MayoTsanaga, Logone & Chari, Mayo Danay Region of ‘Extrême Nord’, Plan International in partnership with the WFP must implement the distribution of specialized nutritional supplements (supercereals plus ICSBS++) to children aged 6 to 59 months MAM as well as for pregnant and lactating MAM women in 132 health areas of the 13 Districts:
(Koza, Mozogo, Mokolo, Roua, Mogodé, Maga, Kousseri, Goulfey, Makary, Mada, Fotokol, Mora and Kolofata) for the treatment and prevention of malnutrition from March 15 to December 31, 2024, i.e. a duration 04 and a half months renewable.
This intervention will improve the nutritional situation of 32,833 children (13,134 boys and 19,699 girls) and 4,700 pregnant and lactating women, all MAM. In the same vein, this project will facilitate nutritional surveillance, early detection of acute malnutrition among children aged 6 to 59 months in different districts quarterly as well as community-based treatment of moderate acute malnutrition among children. children aged 6 to 59 months with local products at 07 nutritional rehabilitation homes (FARN) according to the positive deviance home approach (DPF) which will be put in place.
Activities specific or sensitive to nutrition will include, communication for social behavior change (BCC),) oriented towards the promotion of hygiene practices, improvement of hygiene, improvement of the family dish through Culinary demonstrations and Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture through Vegetable Gardens will be integrated into this project. At the same time, the project will make it possible to monitor the nutritional status of all children aged 6 to 59 months and pregnant women present at monthly distribution sites, daily at health centers and in the community.
The promotion of infant and young child feeding (IYCF) through strengthening the knowledge of target populations (men, women) via awareness-raising on all aspects related to (IYCF), including protection, gender and inclusion in order to prevent the risks of violence, neglect, abuse and exploitation against children will also be carried out and integrated into activities during distributions at the community level.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE:
Under the direct supervision of the District Supervisor, the nutrition assistant will be responsible for the community level and its monitoring.

Administrative Aspects
• Ensure the management and monitoring of materials and inputs provided or delivered to the activity implementation sites.
• Develop the work schedule with the supervisor:
• Participate in the recruitment of community relays in the different health areas in collaboration with area managers and community leaders.
3. Qualifications required
State-certified nurse or related training
At least one (1) year of experience within a reputable international organization in the field of humanitarian aid and development.
Professional experience of at least one (1) year in a nutrition or malnutrition prevention project.
Experience working with WFP
Experience working in areas where security issues are of concern. Experience driving a motorcycle with motorcycle license required.
Candidates must come from the 13 health districts only (Mokolo, Roua, Mogodé, Mozogo, Koza, Maga, Mora, Fotokol, Kousseri, Kolofata, Mada, Makary, Goulfey).
Linguistic knowledge
• Excellent command of French (spoken and written), knowledge of English (spoken and written), Kanuri, Hausa, Mafa, Fulfuldé, Arabic Choua, Mandara are an asset;
• Use computer tools and master current software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint publisher, LESS etc.),
• Good Writing Skills.

• Ability to work systematically as needed, including non-working days for receiving food;
