SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The mission is seeking to fill a Driver position for the Common Services program and to build a pool of qualified candidates for the Driver and Senior Driver positions within the Head of Mission program. These positions provide transportation, delivery, and/or errand services to all mission programs. They offer safe driving services to senior officials, program managers, mission staff, and other visitors or dignitaries. Incumbents in these positions may also drive the dependents of Canadian employees and clients in certain circumstances.
They provide courier and logistics services, maintain and clean vehicles, perform vehicle-related administrative tasks, and may also support the mission by participating in administrative, protocol, maintenance, and other basic support services, in accordance with established mission and departmental policies. Education
This position requires:
A high school diploma.

*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.
For LE-G3 positions, the following additional experience is essential:
Professional experience driving armored vehicles.
Skills:
All skills* will be assessed and must be met prior to employment.
Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics to perform minor repairs (changing a tire, charging a vehicle battery, etc.) and follow up with garages.
Knowledge of MS 365 software.
Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with authorities and liaise between the Embassy of Canada and officials (customs, airport, traffic officers, utilities, etc.).
Client-focused approach. Sound
judgment and discretion.
Organization and coordination skills.
Ability to drive carefully, courteously, and professionally.
Ability to navigate Yaoundé and use a GPS application.
Ability to lift and carry loads (luggage, packages, etc.).

Overtime: The employee may be required to work overtime occasionally and sometimes with short notice.
Travel: This position may require occasional national and/or international travel.
The incumbent may be required to undergo training in the operation of armored vehicles to transport authorized mission personnel to high-risk areas.
The incumbent is required to undergo an annual medical examination.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Valid Work Permit: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid work permit covering the period of employment.
Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security clearance) that includes a criminal and credit check by the Government of Canada.

A valid driver’s license.
