The Port Authority of Douala (PAD) is firmly committed to its proactive approach to optimizing all of its infrastructure. While this approach is general, operational control of the maritime domain remains essential to specifically guarantee the maintenance of the correct channel depth, the smooth flow of naval traffic, and ultimately, the competitiveness of the Port of Douala Bonabéri.
The PAD is seeking high-potential professionals with proven experience in dredging, ship maintenance, and maritime logistics. This targeted call for applications aims to integrate highly qualified and experienced professionals whose expertise will enable them to: Guarantee the continuous operational availability of the access channel and port infrastructure through proactive maintenance (dredging, signaling). | © https://minajobs.net/

With this in mind, the Port Authority of Douala (PAD) is opening a call for applications for the following key positions for the 2026 fiscal year:
3 Deck Officers,
3 Maritime Officers,
3 Dockhands, 3
Engine Room Seamen
, 3 Heavy Vehicle Repair Mechanics,
2 Electrotechnicians
, 1 Welder/Boilermaker
01 Crane Operator

1. REQUIREMENTS
Any Cameroonian aged 40 or under on the closing date for applications and meeting the following specific requirements for each profile may apply for this recruitment:
a. Deck Officers
Training: Bridge Watchkeeping Officer Certificate, 3000 GT Master Mariner Certificate or equivalent STCW. Up-to-date seaman’s book and basic STCW certificates.
 
Experience: Minimum of 24 to 48 months of actual sea service as a Deck Officer.
Languages: Essential fluency in Maritime English (IMO Standard English) and French.
Soft Skills: Leadership, decision-making under pressure, rigor, vigilance, and excellent communication skills
 
. b. Engine Officers
     Training: Engineer Watchkeeping Officer Certificate,
3000 kW Chief Engineer Certificate or equivalent STCW. Up-to-date seaman’s book and basic STCW certificates.
     Experience: Minimum of 24 48 months of active sea service as an Engineering Officer.
     Languages: Good command of technical English (documentation) and French. | © https://minajobs.net/ 
     Soft Skills: Problem-solving (quick troubleshooting), teamwork, autonomy, and organization.

c. Deckhands
     Training: Deckhand Qualification Certificate or approved basic maritime training. Up-to-date seaman’s book and basic STCW certificates.
     Experience: Minimum of 12 months of sea service preferred.
     Languages: Basic knowledge of maritime English and fluency in an official language (French or English).
     Soft Skills: Physical endurance, respect for hierarchy, and teamwork.

d. Engine Room Seamen
     Training: Engine Room Seaman Qualification Certificate or equivalent technical training. Up-to-date seaman’s book and basic STCW certificates.
     Experience: Minimum of 12 months of service in an engine room department preferred.
     Languages: Fluency in an official language (French or English) and understanding of simple technical instructions. 

     Soft Skills: Rigor, strict adherence to safety regulations, technical curiosity, and meticulousness.
e. Heavy Vehicle Repair Mechanics
     Training: Vocational Certificate (CAP/BEP/BT) in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or equivalent.
     Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience in the maintenance of construction equipment or heavy vehicles. 
     Languages: Proficiency in one official language (French or English).
Skills: Solution-oriented, versatile, effective communication with operators.
f. Electrotechnician
Training: Advanced Vocational Diploma (BTS/DUT) or Vocational Diploma (BT) in Electrotechnics,
Industrial Maintenance, or Industrial Electricity.
     Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in industry or the port sector.
     Languages: Proficiency in one official language (French or English). Technical English is an asset. 
Autonomy and adaptability. 
g. Welder/Boilermaker    
     Training: Vocational Certificate (CAP/CQP/BT) in Welding/Boilermaking.
     Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven professional experience.
     Language: Proficiency in an official language (French     
    or English).         
Soft Skills: Precision, meticulousness, initiative, and awareness of workplace safety.
Crane Operator
• Training: License to operate specific lifting equipment.
 
• Experience: Proven experience operating mobile or gantry cranes.
• Language: Proficiency in an official language (French or English).
• Soft Skills: Extreme concentration and vigilance, stress management, professionalism, and reliability.
2. MISSIONS
a. Deck Officers   
Objective: To ensure the safe operation, navigation, and maneuvering of the port’s watercraft, guaranteeing maritime safety and compliance with channel access procedures.
Role Description
: Maintain watch on the bridge in accordance with STCW and IMO regulations.
Maneuver vessels and craft during dredging, towing, or
buoy-laying operations in the access channel.
Ensure nautical operations comply with safety standards and regulations.
Guarantee the operational availability, performance, and reliability of all mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems of local port equipment.
Supervise personnel 
. b. Engine Officers
Objective: 
Ensure the watch and supervision of the engine room.
Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of main, auxiliary, and dredging engines.
Manage spare parts, fuel, and lubricant stocks. 
Ensure compliance with environmental and machine safety standards. 
c. Deckhand
Support the Deck Officer in all daily navigation, maneuvering, and deck maintenance operations,    
ensuring the efficiency of operational tasks.
    Role Description:    
  Participate in mooring, unmooring, and anchoring maneuvers. 
Perform routine deck maintenance (painting, cleaning, greasing).
Assist during dredging or hydrographic survey operations.
Maintain order and cleanliness on deck.

d. Engine Room Seamen   
Objective 
: Assist the Engine Room Officer team in the maintenance and safe operation of mechanical and auxiliary equipment.
     Role Description
  Participate in engine room patrols.
     Perform first-level maintenance tasks (cleaning, greasing, minor repairs).
     Assist with refueling and waste management related to engine operation.
     Strictly adhere to safety procedures within the engine room.

e. Heavy Vehicle Repair Mechanic
  Objective
0: Ensure the rapid and efficient maintenance and repair of the port’s fleet of heavy land-based equipment, minimizing operational downtime.
     Role Description
     : Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on trucks, mobile cranes, loaders, and other port equipment.
     Work on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
     Perform necessary adjustment tests after repairs.
     Manage and track spare parts and specialized tools.
Collaborate with other departments for complex interventions.
f. Electrotechnician

Objective
• Ensure the structural integrity and repair of the port’s metal equipment and infrastructure (ships, quays, sheds, machinery), guaranteeing the safety and durability of the installations.
• Role Description
• Perform welding and metal fabrication work on various materials and using different processes.
• Manufacture, repair, or modify metal parts according to plans and requirements.
 
• Carry out corrosion diagnostics and propose restoration solutions.
• Comply with safety standards during hot work.
h. Crane Operator
     Objective
  Operate lifting equipment with precision and safety, ensuring the speed and fluidity of handling operations for goods and containers on the quays.
     Role Description
Drive and maneuver port cranes (mobile or fixed) for loading/unloading ships.
     Inspect the equipment daily and report any malfunctions.
     Follow handling plans and safety instructions (slinging,
zero zones). Optimize handling cycles in coordination with ground teams.


HOW TO APPLY? 
The application file must consist of the following valid documents
: a- A stamped, handwritten application addressed to the Director General of the PAD; 
b- A certified copy of the birth certificate dated less than three months prior;
c- Certified copies of the required diplomas and certifications;
d- A copy of the National Identity Card; 
e- An extract of criminal record (bulletin N°3) dated less than three months prior;
f- A curriculum vitae dated and signed by the candidate; 
g- 4 recent passport photos; 
h- Candidates may attach any documents that may justify previous service records.
SUBMISSION of the APPLICATION file:
Complete application files addressed to the Director General of the PAD, BP 4020 — Douala, must be submitted to the Secretariat of the Deputy Director of Human Resources located on the 3rd floor of the PAD headquarters building in BONANJO (Douala). Door 302.

The deadline is February 14, 2026, 30 working days from the date of signature of this call for applications (signed January 15, 2026).
 
Candidates who have submitted complete applications will be selected after an evaluation through theoretical, practical, and psychotechnical tests by a working group established by the Director General in accordance with the procedure in force at the Autonomous Port of Douala.
