In the evolving landscape of media, few voices resonate as powerfully and consistently as that of Bennen Buma Gana. For over two decades, he has been a pillar in Cameroon’s broadcast journalism scene, his articulate delivery and insightful analysis shaping public discourse across the nation. Now, he has added another significant milestone to his already illustrious career successfully defending his PhD.
He recently bagged his Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialization in Strategic Management from EMAS Business School. This remarkable academic achievement further reinforces his position not only as a leading media personality but also as a strategic thinker with a firm grasp of corporate communication and management principles.

Bennen’s journey began in Bamenda, Cameroon, where he launched his career as a young journalist at Christian Gospel Radio. His talent and commitment quickly elevated him to the role of Editor-in-Chief at the station in the early 2000s. His pursuit of excellence in communication led him to the University of Buea, where he obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication (1996–2000) and later, a Master’s degree in Corporate Communication (2015–2017).
His rise within Cameroon’s national media structure has been nothing short of remarkable. He equally joined the prestigious Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) and has served in various capacities, from prime-time news anchor to program host, sports commentator, and editorial leader. He is perhaps most widely recognized today as the Editor-in-Chief of CRTV Television’s day shift, where he oversees a dynamic team of over 70 journalists, ensuring quality, accuracy, and impactful storytelling.
His influence extends beyond newsrooms. His commanding voice has become synonymous with major sporting events, particularly football. As a respected sports commentator for CRTV and a consultant with Cameroon’s National Football Academy (ANAFOOT), his expert analysis and eloquent delivery have captivated audiences across the nation.
Notably, Buma Gana has been instrumental in shaping media coverage for landmark events such as the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). His ability to translate the energy of the stadium into compelling narratives for television viewers has earned him widespread acclaim.
In 2024, his excellence was formally recognized when he was named Cameroon’s Best TV Journalist at the prestigious CENPA Awards, cementing his status as one of the country’s leading voices in journalism and broadcasting.
Beyond his on-air presence, he is a respected trainer, mentor, and corporate communication expert. His doctoral research in strategic management reflects his deep understanding of organizational dynamics and his commitment to applying academic insights to real-world challenges.
As he adds the title Doctor to his name, Bennen continues to exemplify excellence, resilience, and intellectual rigor — inspiring a new generation of journalists and communicators across Cameroon and beyond.
His voice, now backed by both experience and academic distinction, is poised to shape not only the airwaves but also the strategic future of media in Africa.
