Context
Humble Friends Humanitarian Organization (HUMFRIEH) is a growing local NGO committed to empowering vulnerable communities across the Southwest Region of Cameroon through humanitarian assistance, human rights promotion, community health, protection, education, and livelihood support. As HUMFRIEH expands its programmatic scope and strengthens its institutional capacity, the organization is increasing its engagement with national and international partners to mobilize resources for impactful, community-driven initiatives.
To sustain this growth and ensure high-quality proposal development, HUMFRIEH is launching a call for Volunteer Project Writers . These volunteers will support the organization in identifying funding opportunities, drafting competitive project proposals, and contributing to the design of multi-sectoral interventions that address the needs of marginalized populations.
This volunteer role is essential to HUMFRIEH’s mission of building resilient communities and enhancing access to justice, health, protection, and socio-economic opportunities.
2. Main Responsibilities
Volunteer Project Writers will be responsible for:
Identifying relevant national and international funding opportunities.
Supporting the design of project concepts aligned with HUMFRIEH’s strategic priorities.
Drafting high-quality project proposals, budgets (in collaboration with the finance team), and supporting documents.
Conducting background research on thematic areas such as protection, GBV, community health, education, livelihoods, peacebuilding, and humanitarian response.
Contributing to needs assessments and problem analyses.
Ensuring proposals meet donor requirements and submission standards.
Collaborating with program staff to gather field data, success stories, and evidence.
Participating in internal planning meetings and brainstorming sessions.
Assisting in the development of logical frameworks, MEL plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
Supporting the documentation of HUMFRIEH’s achievements for resource mobilization.
Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all tasks.
3. Required Profile
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
Minimum age: 18 years.
At least a Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Law, Project Management, or related fields.
Strong interest in humanitarian and development work.
Experience in proposal writing, research, or community development (asset).
Ability to analyze problems and propose structured solutions.
Excellent writing and communication skills in English and/or French.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Creativity, proactivity, and strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with donor requirements (UN agencies, INGOs, foundations, etc.) is an advantage.
Residency in the Southwest Region is an asset but not mandatory (remote collaboration possible).
