JOB DESCRIPTION

 

As part of its launch, the EXCELLENCE health center is recruiting a Medical Secretary with or without professional experience to work from Monday to Saturday.

The medical secretary performs secretarial tasks using specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinical or laboratory procedures. Duties include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical records, reports, and correspondence.

 

Its administrative role consists of entering medical reports (via dictaphone), updating computer files, printing them, filing them, keeping schedules, current accounting and managing orders for supplies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø   Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments and medical consultations.

Ø   Compile and save medical records, reports and correspondence using a computer.

Ø   Answer telephone calls and call appropriate personnel directly.

Ø   Receive and forward messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate personnel.

Ø   Greet visitors, verify the purpose of the visit and direct them to the appropriate staff.

Ø   Interview patients to complete documentation, medical history and forms such as intake and insurance forms.

Ø   Keep medical records and correspondence files.

Ø   Use office equipment such as voice mail systems and use word processing software, spreadsheets and other applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, files and medical records.

Ø   Transmit correspondence and medical records by different communication channels.

Ø   Perform various administrative and clerical tasks, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.

Ø   Organize admissions for patients.

Ø   Transcribe recorded messages and practitioners’ diagnoses and recommendations into patients’ medical records.

Ø   Perform bookkeeping tasks, such as credits and collections, prepare and send financial statements and invoices, and maintain financial records.

Full-time. The center is open Monday to Saturday.

Ø   Know how to listen, guide and reassure patients;

Ø   Editorial standards and production of medical-administrative documents;

Ø   Practice and use of medical terms as well as the nomenclature of medical procedures;

Ø   Mastery of methods of handling medical procedures;

Ø   Mastery of basic care and first aid;

Ø   Ensure current accounting, classification and archiving of files and letters;

Ø   Office automation techniques and practices
