1. About Our Client (Microfinance Umbrella Organ)
Asah Alpha & Co is recruiting on behalf of a prominent Microfinance Umbrella Organ
Institution with extensive operations and activities spread across the South West Region and 4 other Regions in Cameroon. Our client is a key player in the financial inclusion sector,
dedicated to providing robust financial services to the local population.
2. Job Summary
We are looking for a rigorous, experienced, and highly skilled Senior Accountant to lead the
financial reporting and compliance unit. The successful candidate will be the custodian of the
institution’s financial integrity, ensuring that all operations across the South West region and
the other 4 regions are consolidated and reported in strict compliance with banking regulations.
3. Key Responsibilities

Complete and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual declarations to COBAC, respecting all
prudential norms applicable to Microfinance Institutions.
ii
Preparing and presenting accurate financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement,
Cash Flow) in strict accordance with the Revised OHADA Chart of Accounts Financial
Institutions for internal use by Management, and the Board.
iii Overseeing daily accounting operations, general ledger reconciliation, and fixed asset
management.
iv Pilot the entire Network Accounting operations and ensure timely combination / consolidation
for both the use of Management and reporting.

Lead person for the coordination statutory audit of the Apex Organs and its affiliates at interim
and yearend.

Ensure compliance with all fiscal obligations (corporate tax, payroll tax, etc.) to avoid
penalties.
vii Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and monitor performance against
the budget across the region.
viii Manage junior accounting staff to ensure data accuracy and departmental efficiency.

ii Sector Specifics: At least 4-5 years of this experience must be within the Microfinance or
Banking sector.
iii Technical Mastery: Proven, expert-level knowledge of COBAC Prudential Norms for MFIs
and OHADA/SYSCOHADA accounting standards.
Candidates without this specific regulatory knowledge will NOT BE CONSIDERED.

i Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, or a related
field.
ii Professional
Certification: Not mandatory, but shall be an additional advantage.
iii Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with the economic landscape of the South West Region
and Cameroon in general.
iv Software:
Proficiency in Microfinance Core Banking Systems (CBS) and
adequate professional skills in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of
Global Bank will be an additional advantage
v Language: Excellent command of English and working knowledge of French
