Vilnius, Lithuania – At the 2025 International Scientific Students Conference hosted by Vilnius Business College, Cameroonian scholar Lethycia Nguetsop Jiogo delivered a powerful and personal presentation on the causes and socio-economic impact of international student migration in Europe, using Lithuania as a case study.

Titled “Causes of International Student Migration to Europe and its Socio-Economic Impact on Host Countries: A Case of Lithuania,” her presentation went beyond data, offering a compelling narrative that blended academic research with lived experience. Addressing fellow scholars, the presenter shared that the topic was deeply personal—reflecting her own journey from Cameroon to Lithuania, and now to the global academic stage.
“This wasn’t just a presentation,” she remarked. “It was a reflection of a lived experience: mine and that of countless international students who cross borders with dreams, fears, and hope.”
In her address, she emphasized that international students are not just passive learners but active contributors to their host societies—economically, culturally, and intellectually. Her work aims to reshape perspectives on migration by amplifying the voices of international students and highlighting their role in driving innovation and diversity.
She expressed gratitude to Vilnius Business College for providing a platform to share her research and acknowledged the support of her academic mentors, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Recai Uygur, and Prof. Dr. Keisha Laraine Ingram, the session’s moderator, for their insight and encouragement.
“This moment was more than academic,” she added. “It was a moment of purpose. Of presence. Of representation.”
The full presentation can be viewed via the conference recording on YouTube, starting at 4:09:00.
Her journey stands as an inspiring example of how personal narratives can enrich scholarly discourse and serve as a bridge between research and real-world impact.
