Overview of Role

CHAI Cameroon is seeking a motivated and committed individual to support research activities on Antimicrobial Resistance and drug quality in Cameroon . This position provides hands-on experience in research and public health program management amid one of the most pressing global health threats. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, and eager to contribute to evidence-based interventions that address drug-resistant infections in Cameroon and the region.

Responsibilities

Β·        Lead the development of a study protocol and the associated study tools

Β·       Support the collection and compilation of data on antimicrobial , antimitotic, and other classes of medicines used, resistance patterns, from health facilities and laboratories.

Β·       Conduct literature reviews on AMR trends, evidence-based interventions, and global best practices.

Β·       Perform data entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis using Excel, SPSS, or similar tools.

Β·       Assist in facilitating the Technical Working Group meetings on AMR prevention.

Β·       Draft activity reports, meeting minutes, manuscripts and program documentation as needed.

Β·       Contribute to the development of policy briefs, advocacy materials, and donor reports related to AMR.

Β·       Maintain organized records of program activities, data, and correspondence.

Β·       Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

 

Requirements

Β·       Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a MSc/PhD program in Public Health, Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or a related field.

Β·       Solid understanding of AMR, drug quality, Drug supply chain, etc.

Β·       Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to review and synthesize scientific literature.

Β·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical packages such as R, Stata or SAS, SPPS

Β·       Good written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

Β·       Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team environment.

Β·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Β·       Prior experience (academic or volunteer) in public health programs, research, or NGO settings is an asset.

Β·       Knowledge of AMR surveillance tools, antibiotic stewardship programs, or One Health approaches is desirable.

Β·       Experience with data analysis software (SPSS, Epi Info, R, or STATA) is an advantage.

Β·       Familiarity with the Cameroonian health system or regional public health context is a plus.
