ABOUT THE POSITION
ESS Finance Cameroon is recruiting a Head of Internal Audit to lead the company’s audit, internal control, and risk management activities.
Based at the company’s headquarters in Douala, the successful candidate will work closely with Senior Management, the ESS Group, and regulatory authorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems and risk management mechanisms.
- Verify compliance with internal procedures and COBAC regulations.
- Identify operational, financial, and legal risks that could affect the organisation.
- Recommend corrective measures to improve internal processes.
- Develop and execute the annual risk-based audit plan.
- Conduct audits covering financial, accounting, commercial, and IT activities.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Prepare audit reports for Senior Management and the ESS Group.
- Ensure compliance with COBAC and BEAC directives and other applicable regulations.
- Contribute to strengthening corporate governance and compliance practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree to Master’s degree in Audit, Management Control, Finance, Risk Management, or an equivalent field.
- Professional Experience: 3–5 years in a similar position.
- Excellent knowledge of auditing techniques, analysis, and risk assessment.
- Good understanding of banking and microfinance regulations, particularly COBAC and BEAC requirements.
- Ability to assess financial and operational risks.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Internal stakeholders:
- All company departments.
- Senior Management.
- The ESS Group.
External stakeholders:
- COBAC.
- BEAC.
- Statutory auditors and external auditors.
- Technical and financial partners.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Experience Level: Experienced professional.
- Required Experience: 3–5 years.
- Minimum Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree.
