Job Description

As part of its activities in Yaoundé, Ilera Medical Network is recruiting a medical secretary with or without professional experience to work from Monday to Saturday.

 

The medical secretary performed secretarial duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinical or laboratory procedures. Duties included scheduling appointments, billing patients and compiling and recording medical records, reports and correspondence.

 

Their administrative role consists of entering medical reports (on a dictaphone), updating computer files, printing them, filing them, keeping schedules, day-to-day accounting and managing supply orders.

 

Responsibilities

·       Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments and medical consultations.

·       Compile and record medical records, reports and correspondence using a computer.

·       Answer phone calls and call the appropriate personnel directly.

·       Receive and route messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate personnel.

·       Welcome visitors, verify the purpose of the visit and direct them to the appropriate personnel.

·       Interview patients to complete documents, medical histories, and forms such as admission and insurance forms.

·       Keep medical records and correspondence files.

·       Use office equipment such as voice mail systems and use word processing, spreadsheets and other applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, files and medical records.

·       Transmit correspondence and medical records through various communication channels.

·       Perform various administrative and clerical tasks, such as ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies.

·       Organize admissions for patients.

·       Transcribe recorded messages and practitioners’ diagnoses and recommendations into patients’ medical records.

·       Perform bookkeeping tasks, such as credits and collections, prepare and send financial statements and invoices, and maintain financial records.

 

Schedules

Full time. Days from Monday to Saturday.
