
The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) has introduced a new, streamlined procedure for obtaining a National Identity Card (CNI) in Cameroon. This updated system is designed to improve security and efficiency, making the process faster and more accessible.
Steps to Obtain a National Identity Card
- Pre-enrolment and Payment
- All applicants will have to visit the official site https://www.idcam.cm, fill in their details CORRECTLY and in the CORRECT ORDER, then select a center for physical visit, and finally pay the required fee of 10,000 CFA francs via mobile money services such as Orange Money or MTN Mobile Money.
- Obtain a Payment Receipt
- Once payment is made in the course of filling the form, a receipt will be issued by the tax authorities as proof of payment. Download both the payment receipt and the pre-enrolment form you filled online, print them and keep.
- Visit an Identification Post
- Go to a designated identification post which you selected when filling the pre-enrolment form with the following documents:
- Birth certificate
- Proof of occupation
- Payment receipt
- Pre-enrolment form
- Go to a designated identification post which you selected when filling the pre-enrolment form with the following documents:
- Processing and Issuance
- After submission at the selected police post, the National Identity Card will be processed and issued within 48 hours.
- The new card is valid for 15 years.
N/B: When going to the designated center, it is advisable to hold some money with you for any unforeseen contingencies.
